Tips for pleasant smelling drains

All our drains need some TLC every now and then, so here are some top tips to help your sinks and drains smelling fresh.

Before & After Washing Up

Give your plughole a blast of cold water before and after doing the washing up. This will help flush out any little bits of food debris meaning no bad smells.

Using White Vinegar

White Vinegar is an amazing household cleaner and is brilliant at banish smells from drains.

You can use white vinegar on its own by pouring a cup of it down the drain and following with cold water, you can also make up a fizzy mix by using baking soda first followed by the vinegar and allowing it to fizz up, leave for a few mins then pour down a kettle of hot water.

You could even do a white-vinegar flush on a weekly basis to help keep your kitchen sink fresh.

Combining Lemon Juice & Baking Soda

Clean and deodorise all at once with baking soda and lemon juice. Put 1/2 cup of baking soda down the kitchen drain then add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice on top and let it fizz. Wait a few moments then flush out with cold water.

Using Baking Soda & Hot Water

This is a great weekly treatment to combat grease and debris and a great way to maintain a fresh-smelling drain. This easy method is simple. Just use 1 part baking soda, followed by 2 parts boiling water, straight down the plug hole.
